Pet Dental Care

Good dental care should begin when you bring your new pet home.  Brushing your pet’s teeth daily helps keep them healthy.  Ask us to show you how to do this.

Good dental hygiene can improve your pet's health, vitality, well being, and add additional years to his or her life. Regular dental check-ups and ultrasonic teeth cleanings help ensure your pet leads the healthiest life possible.

If left untreated, dental disease can not only be painful, make chewing difficult, and cause bad breath, but it can also lead to serious systemic disease of the heart, liver, or kidneys that may threaten your pet's health before symptoms are noticeable. It is estimated that about 80 percent of dogs and cats develop some tooth and gum disease by the age of three years.

Veterinary Dental Services

We believe that the centerpiece of good dental care is a complete oral exam followed by a thorough canine/feline teeth cleaning. Dental cleanings include ultrasonic scaling followed by polishing and a mouth rinse, as well as follow-up antibiotics, the combination of which is designed to remove plaque and slow its buildup after cleaning.

Your pet's dental prophylaxis includes:

Complete pre-anesthesia examination

Pre-anesthetic laboratory tests

IV antibiotic injection with the procedure

IV fluids to maintain blood pressure

Monitoring of anesthesia including oxygen tension, heart rate, respiratory rate, etc.

Oral examination under anesthesia

Diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease

Supra and subgingival dental scaling

Tooth extractions, if necessary

Fluoride application

Antibiotics, and pain medication as needed for at home care after dental cleaning.

We chart your pet's teeth at every cleaning.  Our veterinarian thoroughly evaluates his or her teeth.
