Karen Coriden, DVM

I enjoy having a personal connection to my patients and their families so practicing in the beautiful Evergreen community where I live is exciting.  It is my goal to provide high quality, compassionate care throughout the life of your pets. My practice provides access to full range of veterinary care and specialty services such as wellness care, pain management, and complete medical, surgical and dental services. I am especially interested in small animal dentistry, geriatric medicine of both dogs and cats, feline medicine, soft tissue surgery, and treatment of rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, small birds, and pocket pets.

Since moving to Colorado, I have worked at several mountain area veterinary practices in Bailey, Conifer, and Evergreen.  For the last 9 years, I have operated a house call pet practice in the Evergreen and Conifer area. In response to many clients’ requests, I established Blue Spruce Animal Hospital at 27882 Meadow Drive in 2013 to provide more extensive medical and surgical services for my patients.

I received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois.  I was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa.  After becoming a veterinarian, I practiced in the Chicago area and in Omaha, Nebraska before moving to Evergreen in 1979.

I have always had pets including cats, dogs, horses, turtles, birds, rabbits, chickens, guinea pigs, ferrets, hamsters, and gerbils.  Starting when I was in high school, my neighbors frequently brought sick or injured wild life (birds, rabbits etc.) to me to nurse back to health. While living in Pueblo, Colorado, I volunteered as a veterinarian for the Pueblo Zoo, treating animals and also established the zoo’s on site veterinary clinic.  I have treated patients for both the Evergreen Animal Protective League and Intermountain Humane Society as well as several Jefferson County School’s pets.  I enjoy spending time with family, reading, and gardening and have previously served as president of the Evergreen Garden Club.
